In addition to the research and academic benefits of REEFMAKERS™ projects, these ships represent some the world's premier recreational diving opportunities. By virtue of their size, shape and carefully the selected locations of the wrecks, the REEFMAKERS™ experience can be offered to visitors to most coastal communities. Away from natural reef structures or habitats, on barren bottom, REEFMAKERS™ projects are easily reached by fishermen, as well as all SCUBA divers.
The sheer size of a REEFMAKERS™ designed project dictates that it will be available for multiple uses simultaneously. Fishing and SCUBA diving, at the same time, most days. In some locations use by snorkellers and glass bottomed boat riders can also be accommodated.

The more carefully designed and deployed an artificial reef, the more people that can be engaged to use it. This provides maximum and long lasting economic benefit to a community. The longer a ship lay on the bottom the more intricate the ecosystem becomes that builds up around it. As a ship becomes enveloped by the marine environment's colonization process, the more attractive a recreational destination it becomes.
And so it goes…
Outside of the obvious uses, large ship artificial reefs can also accommodate narrower uses within the community. Military, Law Enforcement, and government agencies can all train their personnel on, in and around these ships. These projects provide for a rare and effective venue for such training.
